2011 has been a great year for soccer fans throughout the world. During the summer, the women’s FIFA World Cup was held in Germany. Teams from across the globe competed for the championship. The final game was between Japan and the favored USA team. Japan won the title in dramatic fashion, and look to be the favorites to repeat in 2015. During the World Cup, the world was introduced to many top female soccer players, like USA’s Abby Wambach & Christine Sinclair, as well as Brazil’s Marta. Also, this summer was the U-17 World Cup played in Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. The final game was played between the host country, Mexico, and Uruguay. The game was a true battle between the nations with Mexico coming out victorious and bringing glory to the Mexican soccer program. If you can, catch a game soon and cheer your favorite team when they score a Gooooooooooal!
